Do I need to buy an electric car soon?

I'm 64 do I realistically have to worry about electric cars? I don't have anywhere to charge one and I'm quite happy with a small petrol car.

Although the government's current plan is to stop the sale of new petrol and diesel cars from 2030, there is currently no legislation preventing the sale of used petrol or diesel cars from this time. Although petrol and diesel cars may attract higher rates of road tax in the future, it will still be possible to own and drive petrol or diesel cars beyond 2030.
