Clutch replacement - six months after purchase

We bought a '55' plate C3 diesel on 11 May 2010. The clutch failed at Christmas at a cost of some £600 inc VAT. The dealer who supplied the car also carried out the repair. The clutch plates were not at the end of their working life but the thrust bearings, a sealed unit had failed (I have inspected the parts and confirmed this with the service manager and this is not in dispute).

My question is whether I have a claim under the Sale of Goods Act given that I am outside the six month qualifying period?

No. Because more than six months elapsed from the date you bought the car to the failure. See: www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/consumer-rights
