Part-ex thistle

I'm on the waiting list for the new Focus RS and have been told by my dealer that build date is scheduled for May. For simplicity, I would like to part-exchange my Toyota MR2 but, because the Focus RS is such a desirable car at the moment, I do not hold out much hope of getting a good deal so might have to sell privately. Although Spring is the right time to sell a convertible, should I expect to receive the full market price (according to What Car, Glass's or Parker's) in the current economic climate? The car is in immaculate condition (save for one or two very minor stone chips, a tiny stone chip in the windscreen that has been there for six years, and peeling lacquer on the wheels). The car is a 2001/51 registration and only has 22,000 miles on the clock. All the documentation is in order. My second question concerns the wheels and the chip in the windscreen. The lacquer has recently started to bubble and peel on all four wheels and I am wondering whether to spend money on repairing them before considering a private sale. The chip in the windscreen is inconspicuous, so should this also be repaired before sale?

If you want to get sensible money for the MR2 then you have to have the wheels refurbished. Don't worry about the screen. If it has been passing MoTs, no problem. Used prices are currently sky high, which has taken me by surprise, and I can't tell you when they will plummet. Make sure you specify the expensive satnav and Bluetooth with the RS. You'll need it to get a good resale. You'll also need to be careful. It pulls 120 so easily your licence could be in danger every time you take it out. I wouldn't trust myself with one, and I'm an old geezer
