Should I claim for minor damage or get it repaired and pay myself?

I hit a stationary vehicle causing very minor paint damage to both cars. The other owner (who appears honest) wants to go through insurance channels and will probably end up with a respray of a rear panel. I have NCD protection - will it affect my premium? Should I just have my minimally damaged panel resprayed too?

If a claim is being made against you, then you may as well claim for the damage on your vehicle as well (as long as the damage is more than your excess). Ask him to get a quote at his choice of repairer and see if it is worth while you paying it yourself. If not and a claim is made, yes your premium will increase.
