Can I still drive if I'm over 70?

I'm 71 and my licence says it expires June 2022. Am I still allowed to drive if over 70?

Yes you are allowed to drive once you are over 70 but you must renew your driving licence every three years (this is free to do).

It can be done online here www.gov.uk/renew-driving-licence-at-70 but some drivers aged 70 or over have had to do postal applications (see: www.honestjohn.co.uk/news/driving-1/2021-04/dvla-c.../).

Be aware that there are long delays if you have to do a postal application. You can find the DVLA's current processing times here: www.gov.uk/guidance/dvla-coronavirus-covid-19-upda...e

You should be allowed to drive while the DVLA processes your application unless your doctor or optician has told you not to. Further guidance is available here: www.gov.uk/health-conditions-and-driving
