What are the current wait times for over 70s driving licence renewals?

Any idea what current delays are for over 70 driving licence renewals? I have been waiting nine weeks. How can I check that they have actually got my application? The DVLA website only covers online applications

The DVLA is currently processing over 70s paper applications from 7 October (see www.gov.uk/guidance/dvla-coronavirus-covid-19-upda...e).

It says that its staff are "working extremely hard to reduce waiting times for paper applications, however more complex transactions, for example where medical investigations are needed, will take longer". For online applications, customers typically receive their licence in five days.

I would suggest contacting the DVLA directly with your licence number and application number to find out what is happening with your application.

You may able to continue to drive while you wait for your application to be processed, provided you have not been told by your doctor or optician you shouldn't.
