Overall reliability

Very reliable, well built car from the golden era, the 90s.

I read the honestjohn review and laughed. What a load of r******. This car was built in the golden era of motor cars for audi and others. The 90's. Firstly let me tell you I have had 3 of these cars. The first went to 220,000. The second 190,000. The third went to 222,000 and I'm still driving it now in 2019. The previous two were hit by other drivers, so I had to sc*** them. These cars are built like tanks. Have minimum car sensors and electronic sensors. Not like the over the top r****** on new cars that fail and shut the car down. When normal ware and tear items like bearings, bushes, suspension track rod ends ware out. Straight forward to replace. The engine, clutch, gearbox are bullet proof. The car is super reliable and has never broke down suddenly. When something is about to go, you will hear it first and have the chance to get it in the garage. The suspension springs are solid. Many of the original parts will outlast the cheap r****** on modern cars. Car parts were made of better quality steel in those days. The cars drive very well. On diesels you can get upto 55mpg. If you lower the suspension and put on 18inch alloys, the car handling is great. The only thing I would say is. For long journeys the seats can get stiff on the a***. Worth investng in leather seats. Finally the hardest thing for me is to part with these cars and find a modern equivalent. Even my mechanic cannot recommend a car. He has seen 100's of new cars. And keeps saying, mate I know your high standards. But I cannot recommend anything except that you buy another of these. So in summary let me tell you what taxi drivers in germany did. They retired these cars when they did over 500,000 miles........
