From diver to driver

Olympic diving star Tom Daley turned his attention to driving at a special programme designed to introduce young people to driving, based at Goodwood.

Tom is learning to drive in his MINI One D, which he was given as a present for his 17th birthday in May. Tom is a member of the BMW London 2012 Performance Team, an initiative to support London 2012 hopefuls in the run up to the Olympics next year.

Tom Daley commented: "With the amount of travelling from home to the pool that I have to do, I'm obviously desperate to get my licence as soon as possible so it's great that MINI are helping me on my way to that as well as on my journey to London 2012. The Mini Drivers @ Goodwood course was a brilliant way to learn and I'm looking forward to coming back for more."

Mini Drivers @ Goodwood allows people younger than 17 to get behind the wheel, providing they’re taller than 4ft10, and learn the basics of car control and safety. There are various options, from a single taster right through to a full blown mock test.
