- 20,000 Lexus models recalled due to parking assist issue
- 5000 BMW models recalled over steering control units problem
- 2000 Ford models recalled due to seat belt pretensioner fault
More than 26,000 cars have been recalled by Lexus, BMW and Ford in December 2025. Find out what the issues are and if your car is affected below.
Lexus recalls several models over parking assist issue

Lexus is recalling 20,855 models due to a potential Parking Assist ECU issue.
Models affected include the Lexus NX, RX, LBX, RZ, UX, ES, LM, LC and LS, across a range of build dates between 2022 and 2025.
In affected vehicles fitted with a Parking Assist ECU, a component of the Panoramic View Monitor system that displays the rear view image, the software may cause the rear view image to freeze or not display.
Lexus says that in affected vehicles the Parking Assist ECU will be reprogrammed.
BMW recalls X3 models due to steering control software issue

Meanwhile BMW is recalling 5313 BMW X3 models due to a potential problem with the steering gear software.
Vehicles that may be affected were built between August 2024 and October 2025.
On affected vehicles, due to an error in the software the failure of a sensor may not always be detected correctly. When a failure has been detected correctly the drive is notified of it by a Check Control message on the Central Display and minimal change to steering feel.
BMW says that on affected vehicles the vehicle control units will be reprogrammed.
Ford recalls Mustang models due to seatbelt issue

Ford is recalling 2811 Ford Mustang models due to a potential seatbelt anchor pretensioner issue. Affected vehicles were built between June and December 2020.
On affected vehicles, corrosion may weaken or detach the seatbelt anchor pretensioner cables for both front seats. A corroded pretensioner cable may not adequately restrain an occupant in a crash.
Ford says that a remedy has not yet been developed, but that vehicle owners with concerns are advised to present their vehicle at an approved repairer for inspection.

What is a vehicle recall?
DVSA safety recalls happen when a potentially dangerous issue is identified with a vehicle.
Reasons for safety recalls can vary from small technical issues with windscreen wipers to major safety faults with airbags. In all cases, the vehicle will need to be checked by the manufacturer. This will usually take place at a local dealership.
How do I find out if my car has been recalled?
The manufacturer will get in touch with the owners of any affected vehicles, using details from the DVLA. If your car needs to be recalled you should get a letter, phone call or email.
The correspondence will explain what the issue is, how the manufacturer plans to fix it and who to contact to arrange for any checks or work to be carried out.
If you have a second hand car the manufacturer might not be able to reach you so contact a dealership to check if there's anything outstanding for your vehicle or check on gov.uk if you're not sure
Do I have to pay for recall work?
No you don't have to pay for recall work. Recall fixes and checks are carried out free of charge. Although dealers may try to get you to undertake other work on your car when it's in for recall work. Only agree and pay for work that you're happy to have carried out and that you think your car requires.
