Milltek launches expanded Modern Classics exhaust range

Milltek is launching an expanded Modern Classic range of performance exhausts for a wide range of modern classic cars. 

The updated exhaust range includes the Audi RS4 B7, BMW E36 and BMW E90 M3 generations and Mk4 Volkswagen Golf R32. Each is designed to deliver an enhanced sound while keeping the period correct look.

The BMW E36 M3 exhaust gets an OEM look and feel with the Cat Back system and 70mm tips for the E36 3.0 and 3.2 Evo M3 models. This set-up can also be used on other E36 six-cylinder models to free up more of the engine’s iconic sounds.

The BMW E90 M3 also gets Milltek’s latest Cat Back system comprising left and right axle pipes, silencers and valves. A key fob controller opens and closes the valves while OEM-style tips maintain the standard look.

The redeveloped Audi RS4 B7 Cat Back system comes with an active H pipe adding an additional valve that closes when the rear silencer valve is open. It can be in silent mode for normal driving with a sharper tone when you want it, but with no drone. Milltek also offers an EC-Approved system for the RS4 B7.

Meanwhile, the Volkswagen Golf R32 also benefits from the new Milltek V2 system with a rear silencer that come with revised internals to give a deeper tone. It can be supplied in a new brushed stainless steel finish. It’s also a direct replacement for the previous R32 version so existing customers can easily upgrade.

The Milltek Modern Classic range also encompasses cars such as the Audi UR Quattro, BMW E46 M3, Ford Focus RS Mk2, and Honda Civic Type R EP3.

The diversity of the range also includes Land Rover’s classic Defender, Porsche 911 (996 generation) Turbo, S and GT2, as well as the Volkswagen Golf GTI Mk1. The full list is:

Why is there an acrid smell from the exhaust of my car?

We have owned a 2015 Vauxhall Mokka CDTi from new. A few months ago, I noticed an acrid smell (not a bad egg smell) coming from the exhaust. I have tried a fuel cleaner and a cat cleaner but they have made no difference. The engine is running fine and there are no warning lights on the dashboard. It passed the MoT in August with no advisories. Do you have any idea of the cause ?
The most likely cause of an acrid smell such as this is the fibres inside the rear exhaust silencer breaking down, which happens with age. Providing the car still meets the emissions limits for its type, it won't fail an MoT and as this is the very final outlet of the exhaust system, it's unlikely to affect the way the car runs. The likelihood is that you will require a new rear exhaust system soon, though.
