July 2019 DVSA recall round-up: Airbag fault forces Suzuki to recall 22,437 cars
A serious airbag safety fault has prompted Suzuki to recall 22,437 cars in the UK.
The UK recall affects Swift models only, built between February 2017 and February 2019. Suzuki says the side and curtain air bags could be accidentally activated when the rear door is slammed shut. Affected cars will be recalled to approved service centres to have the software in the airbag control module updated.

BMW is recalling 31,514 SUVs. The problem affects X5 and X6 models built between December 2006 and August 2011 and the DVSA safety notice states that a fire could be caused by frictional corrosion could be caused by movements of the connector of the blower regulator wiring harness. The connection of the blower-regulator will be checked and reworked and if necessary the blower regulator will be replaced.
Ford has also issued a serious safety bulletin for thousands of Mondeo, S-MAX and Galaxy models. Overheating of the engine cylinder head may cause the cylinder head to crack, which will cause a pressurized oil leak which in extreme circumstances could result in a fire in the engine compartment.
The issue affects cars built between December 2010 and March 2014. Ford says a coolant level sensor needs to be fitted to provide an audible and visual warning to the drover and in extreme circumstances reduce the engine power.
