Geely EX2 arrives as Renault 5 rival, priced from £21k

The Geely EX2 - the best-selling car in China - is coming to the UK. A scarcely believable 475,775 examples of the Geely EX2 found homes in its homeland in 2025, selling almost as many per month as the UK's top-selling Ford Puma did all year.
And now UK buyers have the chance to see what makes the EX2 so popular. As a small electric hatchback, the EX2 rivals cars like the impressive Renault 5, but aims to counter the French car's design flair with significant interior space, safety kit and competitive pricing.
2026 Geely EX2 price and release date
While prices for the EX2 start at under £7000 in China, the UK model kicks off at £20,990 for the entry-level Pro trim, rising to £23,490 for an EX2 Max, while top-spec Ultra costs from £25,490.
Buyers can register their interest in the EX2 on the Geely website, which features a countdown to 25th August at 9am, when orders are set to open.
2026 Geely EX2 styling, interior and technology
The EX2's exterior looks pleasingly inoffensive, with headlights claimed to look like feathers and 16-inch alloys on all models.
Contemporary design touches include a floating roof and semi-concealed door handles. Moon White, Comet Grey, Star Silver, Nebula Beige, Aurora Green and Jupiter Pink are your paint choices.
Inside, the EX2 features plenty of screens and majors on storage, with a 70-litre luggage space under the bonnet and a 375-litre boot, pretty much equivalent to a VW Golf. There's also a useful 28-litre space under the rear seats. An optional white interior trim for those without pets or kids costs £200.
2026 Geely EX2 power, performance and fuel economy
All models are rear-wheel drive and built on the same Global Intelligent New Energy Architecture (GEA) platform that debuted with the Geely EX5 SUV.
The entry-level Geely EX2 Pro uses a 35kWh battery and 82PS electric motor, giving a claimed range of 155 miles. Max and Ultra models, feature a larger 47kWh battery and a 116PS electric motor, offering up to 214 miles of range.
All models get DC rapid charging up to 80kW and a 6.6kW onboard charger.
2026 Geely EX2 trim levels
Pro trim costs from £20,990 and includes synthetic leather upholstery, electrically adjustable front seats, a 14.6-inch central touchscreen display, an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, keyless go and V2L functionality.
EX2 Max models cost from £23,490 and get the larger 47kWh battery and 116PS motor.
Range-topping Ultra starts at £25,490 and adds two-tone exterior paint, ambient lighting, a 360-degree camera, wireless phone charging, heated front seats and steering wheel and a power tailgate.
All models include seven airbags, Adaptive Cruise Control, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Detection, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and a Driver Monitoring System.
