2026 Audi A6 Allroad styling, interior and technology

For the first time, the Allroad uses a wide-body version of the A6 Avant on which it's based, as with its RS models. In this case it gives 111mm extra width overall, with front and rear tracks up 74mm and 70mm respectively when compared with the regular A6 Avant.

Coupled with chunkier bumpers and sills, underbody protection and wheels that go from 19 to 21-inches, the Allroad looks more overtly off-road ready than before.

Audi's digital Matrix LED headlights are available as an option. These include a customisable daytime running light pattern and the ability to project symbols onto the road to draw your attention to the conditions, for example when it gets icy.

The interior features the familiar 11.9-inch Audi virtual cockpit, 14.5-inch MMI touch display, now with added Allroad information like the car's pitch and roll angles, steering angle and ride height. There's the option of a 10.9-inch MMI passenger display.

Alongside ambient lighting there's the option of a dimmable panoramic roof for taking in the views. A Bang&Olufsen stereo is also an option.

2026 Audi A6 Allroad engines, performance and fuel economy

The range starts with a 299PS 3.0 V6 diesel boosted by a 24PS electric motor and an electric-powered compressor to improve response and lower fuel consumption.

Audi claims that the addition of the electric tech means after accelerating for 2.5 seconds from a standstill, the new Allroad would be a car length ahead of the previous-generation model.

For the record, the diesel completes the 0-62mph sprint in 5.4 seconds and will head on to a 155mph top speed. The diesel model can also tow up to 2500kg – 400kg more than the regular Avant.

New for this generation Allroad is the addition of a plug-in hybrid, which pairs a 252PS 2.0 petrol engine with a 143PS electric motor, giving a total system output of 367PS. The PHEV's 25.9kWh battery gives a claimed WLTP range of 59 miles. Acceleration from 0-62mph takes 5.5 seconds while towing is limited to 2000kg.

All models include adaptive air suspension, which offers 55mm of adjustment range – or 25mm more than the regular A6 Avant. The Allroad sits 34mm higher than the regular car in its normal setting, but can rise an extra 15mm in offroad mode.

Offroad+ mode allows more slip from the traction control and higher engine revs, The suspension drops down to normal once you reach 52mph and there's a 20mm lift function when driving under 21mph, giving maximum ground clearance.

The final tweak is revisions to the steering, with different geometry and a stronger mounting, aimed to give improved steering response.

I need a used car for my growing family – what should I buy?

I need some help to guide my new car choice. I'm looking at buying a replacement car to accommodate my family. At the moment it's myself, partner and a toddler in a bulky seat and we are expecting another little one soon. I have max £15k to spend however where iI'm struggling is as iI'm one of the few drivers in my wider family their are odd occasions when I would need space for another adult. I understand I cannot base my choice on that factor but it would be useful. I prefer estates or SUV as not sure about the styling of MPVs but will remain open.
The size of vehicle you need will depend on the size of the car seats and the adult that you would also need to carry. For example, a Skoda Octavia Estate would suit your needs most of the time and the centre rear seat is reasonably generous, but the bigger Superb Estate is more generously sized across the rear bench. The same applies to the Skoda Karoq, where the larger Skoda Kodiaq would offer the extra space you need comfortably. While MPVs are appreciably less attractive than estates or SUVs, something like the Volkswagen Touran provides three individual seats in the second row within a smaller footprint compared to the Octavia and Kodiaq, with better running costs as a result. Ultimately it is a matter of balancing the need for the extra space against the potential higher price and running costs of the larger options.
