Kia's new EV2 costs from £24,245

  • Kia EV2 is a new small electric SUV
  • Battery range of up to 281 miles
  • Will rival Renault 4, VW ID.Polo and more
  • Priced from £24,245

The new Kia EV2, the smallest of Kia's rapidly expanding electric range of cars, is open for reservations with prices starting at less than £25,000.

The EV2 is set to be a key rival for other small electric SUVs like of the Renault 4, the Volkswagen ID.Polo and the Skoda Epiq.

The new Kia EV2 promises a roomy boot for a car of this size with up to 403 litres of space in the back, as well as a battery range of up to 281 miles. There's also an option to spec the EV2 with a smaller battery and that promises a range of up to 197 miles.

The styling of the EV2 is very similar to other Kia EVs – a design philosophy that the brand calls "Opposites United". The production car's arrival follows the reveal of the Concept EV2 back in April last year, which gave us a very good idea of what the finished product will look like.

You can reserve a Kia EV2 right now, with deliveries due later this year. Prices start at £27,995, although Kia expects the car to be eligible for the Government's Electric Car Grant, and so is discounting the EV2 accordingly. Therefore prices actually start at £24,245 for the entry-level EV2 Air – a discount of £3750. The EV2 First Edition costs £26,995 (discounted by £1500), while the EV2 GT-Line costs from £28,995 and the GT-Line S from £32,595 – both discounted by £3750.

2026 Kia EV2 styling interior and technology

2026 Kia EV2

The launch of the production Kia EV2 really does show how close last year's EV2 Concept car was to the final design. As we've touched on, it shares lots of styling cues that we've seen other Kia EVs, with vertical daytime running lights at the front and Kia's signature "Star Map" headlight design. Alloy wheels will range in size from 16 inches to 19 inches, depending on the trim chosen.

Speaking of trims, there are sportier GT-Line and GT-Line S models with a beefier bodykit, featuring gloss black elements on the outside for a jazzier look. As we've seen with other Kia models, these should prove very popular trims.

Inside, there's a spacious cabin for the size and a design that Kia says is inspired by a picnic box. There's a wraparound dashboard up front with lots of fabric for a more luxurious look, and a new version of Kia's infotainment system called ccNC. There are three screens – a 12.3-inch driver display, a central touchscreen of the same size, and a 5.3-inch screen showing climate control information. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are both included as standard, as is Kia's AI Personal Assistant, which can understand natural language rather than set commands. It's free for a year, but after that you'll have to pay to use itg.

Although in some markets the EV2 is available as a four-seater, all UK cars come with a five-seat configuration. This has a 362-litre boot, expandable to 1201 litres if you fold down the back seats, which split 60:40. There's also a 15-litre "frunk" under the bonnet, although not in the EV2 Air model.

2026 Kia EV2 motors, batteries and range

2026 Kia EV2

The Kia EV2 comes with a choice of two batteries. The standard-range Kia EV2 comes with a 42.2kWh battery that gives a range of up to 197 miles on a full charge, while the larger 61kWh unit promises up to 281 miles.

Both models are built on a 400V architecture, which basically means you can expect rather fast charging for an electric car at this price point. Kia says the standard car will charge from 10% to 80% battery capacity in 29 minutes using a suitable DC charger, while the long-range model will take 30 minutes.

In some markets, the EV2 is also the first Kia model at launch to support both 11kW and 22kW AC charging, although UK cars can only charge at 11kW for now.

A Vehicle to Load (V2L) system is included on the top-spec GT-Line S model, to charge external appliances and send power back to the electric grid. A heat pump is optional on the GT-Line S.

2026 Kia EV2 trim levels

2026 Kia EV2

There are four trim levels on the Kia EV2 at launch – Air, First Edition, GT-Line and GT-Line S.

The Air model rides on 16-inch alloy wheels and has black side sills and wheel arches, with grey seat upholstery inside and a six-speaker sound system. It comes with the long-range battery.

The EV2 First Edition is the first model that will arrive in the UK. It comes with the smaller 42.2kWh battery, but has more features, including 18-inch alloy wheels and LED headlights with an adaptive driving beam function. The flush door handles retract automatically, and there's tinted glass at the back. The grey cloth seat upholstery remains but there's electric adjustment for the driver's seats, and an eight-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, as well as a wireless phone charger and the 15-litre frunk. Three premium paint options are included, too – Frost Blue, Phantom Black and Wolf Grey.

The EV2 GT-Line has the larger battery and adds a sporty look to the car, with 19-inch alloy wheels and a more dynamic-looking bodykit on the outside. There's artificial leather upholstery inside and a six-speaker sound system.

The EV2 GT-Line S build on that with a sunroof, ventilated front seats and electric adjustment on the front passenger seat, as well as an electric boot lid, Harman Kardon sound system, and a 360-degree camera system.
