Sub-£20k Honda Super-N EV is retro cool for less

  • Funky looks and 128 miles of range
  • Spiritual successor to Honda E
  • On sale in July
  • Starting price under £20,000

This is the new Honda Super-N, a tiny electric car that's heading to the UK in the summer, with a sub-£20k price tag and a range of 128 miles on a single charge.

Based on the Super-N Concept shown at last year's Goodwood Festival of Speed, the Honda Super-N was revealed in prototype form last year, but this is the first time we've seen the production model. It's a spiritual successor to the Honda E and is also inspired by the Honda Turbo City II of the 1980s.

Honda says the Super-N will be sporty and fun to drive, which is reflected in the car's design. Check back soon, as we'll update this article when more details are announced.

2026 Honda Super-N price and release date

The Honda Super-N Goes on sale in July. No firm prices have been announced, but Honda says the starting price willl be less than £20,000, which should make it very competitive against cars like the Hyundai Inster and the Renault 5.

The Honda Super-N is based on the Honda N-One e, an electric kei car (a particular Japanese category of small car) sold only in Japan. But the Super-N has numerous changes to set it apart and appeal to other markets, including the UK. It's wider, with bigger wheels and chunky arches plus it has a more sporty design.

There's a charging point in the front grille plate and a boot lid that extends far down into the rear bumper, which should add to its practicality.

Honda promises "a wide range" of exterior colours and customisation options, including a two-tone paint job with a gloss black roof and rear spoiler, as well as body graphics.

Inside, Honda promises lots of space for its size, with a retro-inspired look to the upholstery covering the chunky sports seats.

The dashboard is taken straight from the Honda N-One e and features a relatively small infotainment screen by today's standard, with lots of physical switches and a drive selector protruding from the dash.

2026 Honda Super-N battery, range and performance

2026 Honda Super N

No detailed performance details have been announced yet, although Honda has said that the Super-N will have a Boost mode, which ups the power output from 64PS to 95PS for extra oomph. That might not sound like much, but Honda says the car will be one of the lightest EVs in Europe, so it should feel zippy to drive. It also simulates gear shifts on a a seven-speed transmission with what the company calls Active Sound Control to jazz up the experience.

The battery promises a combined range of up to 128 miles, although perhaps more relevant to this type of car will be its official city range, which is 199 miles. For short commutes and urban exploring, while keeping the price down, that should be enough for many people.

When does the new Honda Super-N go on sale?

The Super-N will go on sale in July with a starting price of less than £20,000.

Will the Super-N be sold across Europe?

No, Honda only plans to sell the Super-N in Asia and the UK, with no plans for a roll-out in mainland Europe.

What's the battery range on the Honda Super-N?

Honda is marketing the Super-N as having a 199-mile range, but that's measured specifically in the city. The combined figure, which is a more rounded measurement across different types of driving, is 128 miles.

When does the warranty start on a new car?

My wife has just bought a 2025 plate Honda e:Ny1 with 142 miles on the clock which she absolutely loves but we have just found out through paperwork in the glove box that the vehicle was actually made in 2023 having found a pre inspection form dated October 2023. The car according to dvla was registered in June 2025 so we are really confused with 1 should our warranty start from June 2025 or when the car was built 2 should we have paperwork or online servicing to show it was Inspected in 2024? Is this normal for a car to be sat for a period of two years before being registered and should we have been informed as we feel like we’ve bought a 2 year old car now
Generally speaking a manufacturer's warranty begins from the date that the vehicle is first registered, but this is something you can clarify with the dealership or Honda UK if it is not shown on the vehicle paperwork. We would not expect a vehicle to be serviced while it is unregistered as it is likely to be kept in storage with pre-delivery protective coverings, and while there is a significant gap between the date of manufacturer and of first registration, the car's age is effectively taken from its date of first registration. There is always a gap of at least several months between the date of manufacturer and registration, but this gap can be affected by several factors. While it was built in October 2023 it may not have reached the UK until 2024, and it is possible that it was a cancelled order which meant it remained unregistered.
