Revamped BMW 7 Series revealed with 452-mile electric range
- Overhaul for BMW's flagship saloon
- Revamped design and up to 452 miles of range on electric i7
- On sale in the UK from September
- Prices TBC
BMW has revealed a substantial update to the 7 Series, with a new look that follows the brand's latest Neue Klasse design, and a boost in range on the electric i7, which can now manage up to 452 miles on a single charge.
At launch, the new 7 Series will be offered with three all-electric versions under the i7 badge, all with significantly boosted battery tech. Plug-in hybrid models will follow, with up to 50 miles of electric-only driving.
Visual changes include a striking new grille and new paint finish options, as well as a big tech upgrade inside, with a new infotainment system and BMW's latest Panoramic iDrive display.
The revisions should keep the 7 Series and i7 competitive against its big rival, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, which was also recently revamped.
2026 BMW 7 Series price and release date

No exact date has been revealed for the on-sale date of the new 7 Series and i7, but BMW says production and the UK market launch of the i7 will happen from September, with the plug-in hybrid models following before the end of the year. Expect a small rise in cost over the current car, which starts at £101,865.
2026 BMW 7 Series styling, interior and technology

The new-look 7 Series is what BMW calls "Neue Klasse merged with progressive luxury", which is a marketing way of saying it's taken bits from the latest iX3 and i3 and grafted them onto the existing car. BMW's signature kidney grile has been reimagined, with slimmer proportions and thin daytime running lights, and there's a full-width light bar at the back. Some 500 colour combinations are on offer, including a new Dual Finish look that combines matt and metallic finishes.

Inside, BMW's Panoramic iDrive system has been installed, with a full-width display across the base of the windscreen. There's also a large central infotainment screen and, for the first time on the 7 Series, a passenger display. Rear-seat passengers can opt for a 31.3-inch Theatre Screen with Dolby Amos sound and 8K resolution, with a camera built in for video conferencing.
Other highlights include a panoramic glass roof, four-zone climate control and optional Executive Lounge seating for those that intend to spend more time in the back than the front, with an integrated leg rest behind the front passenger seat.
2026 BMW 7 Series engines, performance and fuel economy

Both battery and plug-in hybrid power will be available in the new 7 Series. The electric i7 will come in three versions at launch, starting with the i7 50 xDrive, which uses two motors to develop 455PS and 660Nm for a 5.5-second sprint from standstill to 62mph. Its new battery – the exact size of which has not been revealed – gives it a range of 452 miles.
The i7 60 xDrive ups the power to 544PS abd 745Nm, which means a 4.8-second 0-62mph time and a range of up to 451 miles, while the top-spec i7 M50 has a massive 680PS and 1015Nm, rocketing to 62mph in 3.8 seconds with a battery range of 426 miles.
Two plug-in hybrid models will follow. The 750e xDrive has 489PS and 700Nm, for a 4.8-second sprint to 62mph, with 50 miles of electric-only range. The M760e xDrive has 612PS, 800Nm and a 4.2-second 0-62mph time, with 49 miles of electric range.
BMW has also tweaked the driving of the 7 Series, with adaptive air suspension included as standard and active roll stabilisation available as an option
