- More smaller cars planned, as well as new ventures into the larger-car market
- More E-Tech full hybrids and more EVs
- New generation of fast-charging electric vans planned
Renault has announced that it will launch 12 new vehicles in Europe between now and 2030. In a strategic plan, known as FutuREady, the French firm plans a total of 36 new vehicles across the Renault, Dacia and Alpine brands.
Of those, 26 will be Renault-brands, with 12 aimed at Europe. Recent launches like the Renault 5 E-Tech and the Renault 4 E-Tech will be joined by additional E-Tech models, including the upcoming Twingo.
As well as strengthening the company's presence in the small-car market, Renault also plans to launch a second wave of larger cars into what's known as the C and D segments, which includes family cars and SUVs. These will feature new electric and hybrid tech with more advanced features than Renault's smaller cars.
Electrification is a key part of Renault's plan, with E-Tech full hybrids continuing beyond 2030 while at the same time a new generation of electric vehicles will be developed on a platform called RGEV medium 2.0. This new platform will support multiple body styles and segments, from small crossovers to larger family SUVs. Renault says it will improve battery ranges and efficiency and boost charging speeds through 800-volt electrical systems.
Some versions will also feature a range extender, which lets drivers travel much further by using a small petrol engine to recharge the battery.
Renault has also unveiled several concept vehicles that hint at future production models. Among them is the R-Space Lab (pictured above), which is a people carrier that explores new interior ideas with modular seating and a bright, flexible cabin. On top of that, a new series of electric vans is planned, also using 800V tech for faster charging and longer ranges of up to 280 miles.
