Revised Vauxhall Astra plug-in, electric and hybrid all get the same price tag
- Mid-life facelift for Astra hatch and estate
- Price parity between electric, hybrid and plug-in models, as well as bodystyles
- Prices start at £29,995
- Petrol version to follow later this year
Vauxhall has taken the unusual move of giving price parity to the electric, hybrid and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) versions of its newly facelifted Astra.
All versions of the revised Astra – both hatchback and Sports Tourer estate – now start at £29,995, no matter what source of power you choose. This means savings of up to £5000 on the electric and PHEV models compared to the outgoing versions.
The revisions to the Astra include a tweaked exterior design, and a larger battery in the electric model, which boosts the range up to 281 miles on a full charge.
A new petrol model will follow later in the year.
2026 Vauxhall Astra price and release date

You'll be able to order a new Astra from June, with UK deliveries due to start in July. Prices start at £29,995 across the board, which is for the entry-level Griffin trim. The GS trim costs £31,495 and the Ultimate costs £33,995.
2026 Vauxhall Astra styling, interior and technology

Exterior tweaks to the new Astra include a new front end, with a permanently illuminated Griffin logo between the compass-inspired lights trips that extend into the headlights.
There are seven paint colours to choose from, including Contour White for the first time. The hatchback gets an exclusive Electric Yellow paint colour, and the Sports Tourer is available in Clover Green. You can also specify a contrasting black roof across all trim levels.
Inside, Vauxhall has updated the materials to include a scractch-resistant satin grey finish where previously there was gloss black, and there's a new seven-colour ambient lighting system. The seats are new, too – Intelli-Seats, as Vauxhall calls them, with pressure-relief channels on the bases, inspired by bicycle saddles and designed to reduce pressure on the tailbone. They're standard on all models. Heated front seats and a heated steering wheel are also standard across the range.
All models get a 10-inch touchscreen with sat-nav, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and there's up to 1339 litres of luggage space in the hatch, or 1634 litres in the Sports Tourer.
2026 Vauxhall Astra motors, batteries and range

A 1.2-litre petrol version of the facelifted Astra is coming later this year, but to start with you can choose from the hybrid, the plug-in hybrid or the electric model.
The Astra Electric has a 156PS motor driving the front wheels, with 270Nm of torque. It's powered by a new 58.3kWh (55.4kWh usable) battery that offers up to 281 miles of range in the hatchback and 276 miles in the Sports Tourer, according to WLTP figures. That's an increase of 22 miles over the outgoing model.
The Astra Plug-In Hybrid model uses a 1.6-litre petrol engine and electric motor to deliver 196PS and 360Nm, and its 17.2kWh battery gives it an electric-only range of up to 52 miles.
The hybrid model, meanwhile, uses a 48-volt system to develop a total of 145PS, and can drive for short distances in electric-only mode around town. Vauxhall says it has the potential to cover up to 50% of city driving in electric model.
2026 Vauxhall Astra trim levels

There are three trim levels to choose from on the new Astra – Griffin, GS and Ultimate.
Griffien includes 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, and roof rails on the Sports Tourer model. It comes with heated front seats, a heated vegan leather steering wheel, and adaptive cruise control, as well as a frameless electro-chromatic rear-view mirror.
The GS trim adds sportier styling and 18-inch black alloy wheels, with fabric sports seats inside and dual-zone climate control. It introduces the Pure Panel ‘Pro’, which combines the 10-inch touchscreen and a 10-inch digital instrument cluster into a single edge-to-edge glass display. There's also a parking camera, keyless entry and start, and electric heated door mirrors.
The range-topping Ultimate model has Intelli-Lux HD headlights as standard, which use more than 50,000 elements to provide adaptive, glare-free illumination, according to Vauxhall. The seats are made from sustainable ReNewKnit fabric, which is 100% recycled, and includes heating and massage functions for the driver and front passenger. Other features include a head-up display, a wireless smartphone charger, and a suite of safety features including Lane Positioning Assist, Blind Spot Alert, Lane Change Assist, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. The Sports Tourer model gets a power tailgate.
