Range boosts for BMW iX1 and iX2

  • New semiconductor components improve efficiency
  • Range boosts to 318 miles on eDrive20 models
  • Updates start from March 2026

BMW has improved the range on the iX1 and iX2 small SUVs, thanks to some new technology that will go into cars made from March this year.

New silicon-carbide semiconductor components in the inverter mean better efficiency and reduced energy consumption, BMW says, which means the iX1 and iX2 eDrive20 models can now manage up to 318 miles on a single charge – up from 293 miles on the outgoing models.

The all-wheel-drive xDrive30 models also get a boost, up to 288 miles on the iX1 (up from 270) and up to 294 miles on the iX2.

The updates follow similar upgrades for the MINI Countryman Electric, which shares many of its components with the BMWs. The Countryman's range rose from 286 miles to 311 miles.
