Vauxhall announced Corse GSE electric hot hatch

  • Teaser image of forthcoming hot hatch
  • Corsa GSE will be fully electric
  • Uses tech from Mokka GSE Rally car
  • On sale later this year

Vauxhall has released a teaser image of its forthcoming new electric hot hatchback, the Corsa GSE.

Based on the standard Corsa, the Corsa GSE follows the release of the Mokka GSE, which is Vauxhall's fastest ever production vehicle. Not much information has been released as yet, but Vauxhall says it'll be available to order next year, and build on the technical knowledge gained from its Mokke GSE Rally car, which makes up the one-make ADAC GSE Rally Cup motorsport series.

While we wait for tech spec and performance figures, we can muse over Vauxhall's proclamation that the Corsa GSE will "combine small and agile practicality with thrilling, pure electric, motorsport-inspired power and dynamics". Vauxhall has a strong history of hot Corsas, including the GSi and VXR, which means the GSE has big petrol-powered shoes to fill with its electric feet.

We'd expect the new Corsa GSE to follow the 280PS Mokka GSE in dramatically upping the power of the standard car, while also beefing up the looks and the chassis for much improved performance.

We'll update this article with more information once it's revealed.

2026 Vauxhall Corsa GSE price and release date

Orders for the new Corsa GSE will open "later this year", Vauxhall says. No price has been announced, but we'd expect it to be competitive against potential rivals, such as the Peugeot e-208 GTi, with a tag between £35,000 and £40,000.

What does the spanner symbol on my instrument panel mean?

I have a 2023 Vauxhall Mokka 1.2 and a spanner symbol is showing on the dashboard. What should I do?
In most cars a spanner symbol on the dashboard either means the vehicle is due a service or that the ECU has detected a fault. Adiagnostic tool will provide more details if you have access to one or we would suggest having a diagnostic check performed by a Vauxhall dealer or independent garage to find the cause. You may also find it useful to have a look at the vehicle handbook—or owner's manual—as it used to be called. You will find all sorts of useful information in there.
