New Genesis GV60 Magma revealed: A plush 650PS alternative to the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N
- High-performance Genesis with 650PS and 790Nm
- 0-60mph in 3.4 seconds
- More aggressive look with lower ride height than standard GV60
- On sale in 2026
Genesis has revealed more details about its first high-performance production model, a 650PS version of its Genesis GV60.
The Genesis GV60 Magma is, in some ways, a luxury version of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N. Genesis is the luxury offshoot of Hyundai, and will use the same motor, with a 0-60mph time of 3.4 seconds. The new car marks the introduction of the Magma branding, which Genesis says will be the equivalent of BMW's M division or Mercedes' AMG badge.
The Genesis GV60 Magma will get the Ioniq 5 N's launch control, drift mode and its gimmicky-but-fun Virtual Gear Shift system. In other words, this is a Genesis designed for fun behind the wheel. When it goes on sale later this year it should be an intriguing rival for cars like the Porsche Macan Electric, the Tesla Model Y Performance and the new Alpine A390.
2026 Genesis GV60 Magma price and release date

No firm price or release date for the new Genesis GV60 Magma has yet been announced. We know that it's coming in 2026 and we can hazard a guess at a price that's somewhere around the £75,000 mark – the top-spec regular GV60 is £67,715.
For comparison, the Porsche Macan Electric starts at £68,600, the Tesla Model Y Performance is £61,990 and the Alpine A390 price has yet to be confirmed. A Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is £65,010.
Customers can register their interest now; the first UK deliveries are due in the second half of the year.
2026 Genesis GV60 Magma styling, interior and technology

The new Magma obviously shares much of its styling with the standard GV60, but Genesis has lowered it – both visually and literally. Wide horizontal lines across the front make it seem lower and wider, as in fact it is – revised suspension drops it 20mm and the track is wider by 50mm. The three holes at the front will become a signature design feature on future Magma cars, and house an integrated front camera as well as improving cooling.
The chassis has some serious upgrades, including Electronic Control Suspension and End-of-Travel control systems that minimise vibrations and impacts for better ride comfort.
The arches have been widened to accommodate big 21-inch forged alloys and the side-skirts, together with the large rear wing and a diffuser in the rear bumper, have been designed to improve aerodynamics and add downforce at higher speeds. Under the Pirelli-clad wheels are big 400mm front brake discs with orange monoblock callipers.

As well as the bright orange paint in these images, there are black gloss exterior mouldings and dark metal accents.
Inside, there's orange and grey stitching over a Chamude suede-like material for what Genesis says is a sporty but luxurious feel. The bucket front seats ajust electrically in 10 ways.
There's a Magma-specific steering wheel with orange accents, with a dedicated Magma button to access the car's driving models. There's also a 27-inch panoramic display combining the infotainmentg screen and digital instrument cluster, which as well as things like speed, can show G-force and boost time.
A Bang and Olufesen 14-speaker sound system is included, as is Active Sound Design+, which when Virtual Gear Shift is enable, adds a V6-style soundtrack to the driving experience.
2026 Genesis GV60 Magma electric motors, performance and range

The Genesis GV60 Magma uses a dual-motor setup with 609PS and 740Nm of torque in standard mode, of 650PS and 790Nm in Boost mode, which lasts for 15 seconds when you press the steering wheel-mounted button. Genesis says the car will hit 60mph from standstill in 3.4 seconds, 124mph in 10.9 seconds and max out at 164mph.
It also gets a track-focuses Sprint mode and a GT mode designed for high-speed cruising.
Like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, the GV60 Magma uses an 84kWh battery and promises fast charging, with 10% to 80% refills feasible in 18 minutes.
What drive modes does the Genesis GV60 Magma have?
There are three drive modes on the GV60 Magma - Sprint, GT and My. Sprint gives you maxiimum performance, GT balances power with comfort and efficiency, and My is the customisation mode. Further features include: Drift mode, which gives the car a rear-wheel bias and specifically tuned e-LSD for big slides; Boost mode that unlocks the extra power for 15 seconds; and Launch Control that gives you the optimal launch from standstill.
When is the Genesis GV60 Magma on sale?
No firm release date has been announced, but you can register your interest now, with UK deliveries due in the second half of 2026.
