First interior pics of all-electric Ferrari Luce revealed

  • Ferrari reveals the name of its new electric car
  • First interior images show a new retro-inspired design direction
  • Design is a collaboration with LoveFrom, designer of the original iPod and iPhone
  • Full car will be revealed in May

These are the first interior shots of Ferrari's new electric sports car, which will be called the Luce (that's Italian for "light".

We'll see the full car in May, but for now we'll focus on the interior reveal, which is more interesting than most. For one, it represents a new cabin look for Ferrari, designed with a consortium called LoveFrom, founded by Marc Newson and the man behind the look of the iPod and iPhone, Sir Jony Ive.

However, despite the high-tech background of Ive and his team, the interior of the Luce is rooted in the past, with a modern interpretation of sports car and aviation looks of the 1950s and 1960s. The machined recycled  aluminium steering wheel is a world away from recent Ferrari wheels, with simple, analogue buttons. Attached to the steering column is a binnacle of layered OLED screens that, when you sit in the driver's seat, create a 3D effect. The graphics are again inspired by a Veglia and Jaeger instruments of a bygone era.

The main centre display, which Ferrari calls the control panel, sits on the dashboard, and uses a ball-and-socket jointto allow it to rotate towards either front-seat occupant.

Mounted within the central display is an analog multigraph with three anodised aluminium hands behind tough Gorilla glass. This combines clock, chronograph and launch control functions, and is intended to honour Ferrari's tradition with a blend of tech and watchmaking artistry.

Speaking of Gorilla Glass, it's also been used to make the Luce's shifter, with ink inlaid into tiny holes – half the width of a human hair – hewn by lasers. Gorilla Glass, often seen on watches, is designed to be more durable, scratch and impact resistance than normal glass. It's also found on the binnacle and the surface of the central console.

2026 Ferrari Luce price and release date

We'll see the new Ferrari Luce revealed in full in May of this year. No price has yet been announced, but while it won't be cheap, it's a sports car rather than a supercar, so expect it to be pricey rather than outrageous.

Although Ferrari hasn't yet revealed the Luce's exterior, it has shown off details of its power system. The platform for what will be Ferrari's first electric car draws on technology developed for hybrid systems in Ferrari's F1 cars as well as plug-in hybrid road cars like the SF90 Stradale, the 296 GTB and the 849 Testarossa.

The Luce's huge 122kWh battery will be completely integrated into the floorpan, with 15 modules mounted as low as possible betweem the axles; the Luce will have a centre of gravity 80mm lower than an equivalent petrol car. Expect a range north of 330 miles, which doesn't seem that much by modern standards.

Two electric axles, developed and built in-house and again derived from F1, will house four electric motors delivering more than 1000PS and a colossal 11,500Nm of torque when launch mode is enabled. Ferrari says the 0-62mph time will be 2.5 seconds, with a top-speed of 193mph.
