New Mazda CX-6e promises alternative to Model Y and Enyaq
- New electric equivalent of Mazda CX-5
- 300-mile battery range
- Already available in China as Mazda EZ-60
- Arrives in UK at the end of the year
This is the new Mazda CX-6e, a new mid-size electric SUV with a 300-mile battery range, heading to the UK later this year. Broadly speaking, it's the electrical equivalent of the existing Mazda CX-5.
The keener-eyed of you may recognise it as the Chinese-market Mazda EZ-60 that was revealed last year - the car is a joint development betweem Mazda and Chinese carmaker Changan. Under the surface, it shares much with the Deepal S07.
The battery is a 78kWh unit with a single electric motor driving the rear wheels. Its 300-mile range seems some way short of its immediate rivals, such as the Skoda Enyaq (up to 360 miles), the new Citroen e-C5 Aircross (321 miles) and the Kia EV5 (329 miles).
It should be nippy to drive though, fitting in with Mazda's philosophy of engagement and fun behind the wheel.
2026 Mazda CX-6e prices and release date

No prices or firm release date have been announced for the new Mazda CX-6e yet, but we do know it will arrive on UK shores late this year. We'd expect it to cost from around £45,000 to stay competitive against rivals.
2026 Mazda CX-6e styling, interior and technology

Seven paint colours will be available, including the Nightfall Violet shade you see in the pictures. The cameras replacing side mirrors are likely to be available on higher-spec models, though UK specifications have yet to be confirmed.
Inside, the dashboard is dominated by a huge 26-inch infotainment screen in the centre. There's no digital driver display, but every model has a head-up display to project driving and navigation information onto the windscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard and the infotainment system features gesture control and voice recognition to adjust settings on the move.
You'll be able to choose between Warm Beige and Black Maztex for the interior colour-scheme and range-topping Takumi Plus models will be available with a two-tone Amethyst and White option.
Designed to be a family SUV, the CX-6e will seat five and has a 468-litre boot that expands to 1434 litres if you fold down the rear seats.
2026 Mazda CX-6e engine, performance and fuel economy

The new Mazda CX-6e has a single electric motor developing 258PS and 290Nm of torque that powers the rear wheels. That means a 0-62mph time of 7.9 seconds and a top speed of 115mph.
Its 78kWh lithium-ion phosphate battery gives it a range of up to 300 miles according to official WLTP tests, and with DC rapid charging speeds of up to 195kW, it can top up from 10% to 80% capacity in 24 minutes. It will charge on a three-phase AC charger at up to 11kW.

No official UK on-sale date has yet been announced for the new Mazda CX-6e, but we do know that it will touch down some time in late 2026.
