- Geely EX5 is a family-sized electric SUV
- 60kWh battery has a range of up to 267 miles
- Priced from £31,990 with sales opening on 24 October 2025
The Geely EX5 electric SUV arrives this autumn to introduce the Geely brand - that owns Volvo, Polestar and Lotus - to UK car buyers.
Promisingly, the new Geely EX5 has even been given the once-over by Lotus Engineering. The famous sports car brand’s engineering division has assessed the new Geely EX5 on its suitability for UK roads.
To provide reassurance to customers, the new Geely EX5 will launch with a six-year warranty, plus two additional years. It has also been awarded a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating.
"We believe we have a strong introductory model in the Geely EX5" says Geely Auto UK general manager Mike Yang.
He says the new Geely EX5 has "several stand-out features we believe will have particular appeal to the UK market."
The new Geely EX5 will compete with a broad range of rivals including the Volkswagen ID.4, the impressive Renault Scenic and Hyundai Ioniq 5, among others.
2025 Geely EX5 prices and release date

The new Geely EX5 launches with a very competitive price in the UK. The entry-level Geely EX5 SE costs £31,990. Pro and Max trim levels are also available.
The new Geely EX5 will open for ordering on 24 October 2025, with first deliveries also expected during October. Potential customers can reserve a new Geely EX5 for a refundable £99 reservation fee.
Geely will also announce the retail network for the new Geely EX5 in early October.
2025 Geely EX5 styling, interior and technology

The new Geely EX5 is inoffensively-styled, with clean and premium lines that won’t particularly stand out, but will not scare anyone away, either.
It has a hint of Mercedes-Benz about it, combined with the closed-off front end and slim LED headlights that so many modern EVs boast. The Geely logo is neat – a rectangle split into six squares.

The new Geely EX5 has an aero-first design, with features such as retractable door handles. The standard non-metallic colour is white, with four metallic alternatives optionally available.
The new Geely EX5 has 18-inch wheels with Giti tyres as standard. Pro and Max models have 19-inch low-drag alloy wheels with Goodyear tyres.

There are no surprises inside the new Geely EX5, either. Again, it looks premium, with neat chrome detailing, and 256-colour ambient lighting is standard on all but base SE models.
There is a 15.4-inch central touchscreen and an additional 10.2-inch LCD instrument cluster. Apple CarPlay is included, with Android Auto "coming soon." New Geely EX5 Max models get a head-up display.
The range-topping Geely EX5 Max also has a 16-speaker Geely-developed ‘Flyme Sound’ premium auto system, including a 1000-watt amplifier and front headrest speakers. Other models get a six-speaker stereo – although all get wireless charging and dual USB-A and USB-C ports.
Other equipment highlights on all models include electric front seats, a heated steering wheel, 360-degree parking camera and keyless entry.
A ‘Midnight’ interior is standard. Pro and Max models offer an optional ‘Cloud’ interior, the lighter colour scheme that’s pictured here.

The all new Geely EX5 also features a standard heat pump, which should help improve efficiency in the winter.
When it comes to practicality, it has a 461-litre boot, expanding to 1877 litres with the rear seats folded. Oh, and the front seats also electrically fold flat, should you wish to have a nap while you charge...
2025 Geely EX5 electric motor, battery and range

The new Geely EX5 launches with a single 218PS electric motor. This is part of an advanced-sounding ’11-in-one’ drive system. Performance figures are still to be confirmed.
The new Geely EX5 also has a single 60kWh LFP ‘blade battery’. It has a range of up to 267 miles in entry-level Pro guise. The Max, with its larger 19-inch alloys, has a 255-mile range.
With DC rapid charging speeds of up to 160kW, the new Geely EX5 will charge from 30-80% in 20 minutes. It also offers vehicle-to-load and vehicle-to-vehicle charging capabilities.
More details will be announced as the UK launch of the new Geely EX5 nears.
Has the new Geely EX5 been tuned by Lotus?
Lotus Engineering has carried out wide-ranging assessments of the new Geely EX5. This apparently gives the firm a strong foundation for any future European tailoring. So, it seems specific tuning hasn’t yet been carried out – but may well follow in the future.
The new Geely EX5 has two-year, 20,000-mile service intervals.
Do you get a free home charger with the new Geely EX5?
All new Geely EX5 come with a free Anderson A3 home charger. Geely is also said to be developing a relationship with energy provider Octopus.
