Audi simplifies new car model range

Audi UK is simplifying its model range as it aims to make buying a new car less confusing for customers.

The rationalisation programme will reduce complexity in its model lines by 45%, resulting in a streamlined selection process for customers.

The carmaker has simplified its trim structure to three core specification levels for standard models and two for S versions, stacked with two optional trim packs. The trim options available are tailored according to the model line's market segment and specific customer profile.

The trim options available for the Audi A1 to Audi Q5 models are now Sport, S line, or Black Edition, whereas, for the higher-performance S versions of these models, the Black Edition specification becomes the access point.

For S models, the exclusive Technology Pack Pro ranging from £1295 to £3995 becomes available. Additionally, there are two new option packages – the Technology Pack and Technology Pack Pro – delivering significant added customer value compared to the selection of their contents as individual options.

The Technology Pack ranges in price from £1295 to £2995, while the Technology Pack Pro is priced from £2995 to £8795.

Audi UK's Director, Andrew Doyle, said that the aim of the new approach was to improve online access to a much leaner model portfolio based around simpler, more consistent trim lines that bring added customer value to virtually every variant. The first phase of the range rationalisation strategy is effective immediately, with more changes expected later in the year.

The changes not only simplify the buying process for customers but also offer increased freedom of choice by making sought-after technology features that were previously confined to the standard equipment list of top-tier models available much more widely throughout the range.

Furthermore, the new approach allows customers to secure their preferred specifications at a lower price point.

According to Audi UK, the rationalisation programme should provide a simpler, easier and more affordable route for customers looking to buy a new car. Customers will benefit from a streamlined selection process, a range of technology-focused option packs and added customer value.

I want a large petrol estate to replace my current Volkswagen Passat, what are my options?

I have a 2.0 litre petrol Volkswagen Passat estate and am looking to replace it this autumn. Given that there isn't a petrol Passat with the same power what are my options in a similar(ish) price bracket for an estate with that sort of capacity? I'd even consider the Audi A6 Avant e-tron or Volkswagen ID.7 if available.
Although the Passat Estate GTE has officially gone off sale, the Volkswagen UK website says it is available from stock, so you could potentially enjoy 218PS with the flexibility of a plug-in hybrid. The Audi A6 Avant e-tron offers strong performance with 299PS but with a starting price of £58,000 is a bit more expensive than the Passat, while the Volkswagen ID.7 is yet to be released and at present is only expected to be available in saloon form rather than with an estate bodyshape. Your best option may be to look at something used, otherwise you may have to increase your budget in order to keep the same performance and space as your current Passat.
