Prices and specs announced for revised Renault Scenic range

Published 19 June 2013

Renault has confirmed the UK prices and specifications for its revised Scenic range, which will be in showrooms from 1 July. Prices start at £17,955 and the three model line-up will include the new crossover inspired XMOD, alongside the more familiar five and seven seat models. The facelifted Scenic gets a new, sleek front with styling inspired by both the Captur and Clio. Other exterior changes include a larger Renault badge and new ‘Dune’ paint option.

New to the range will be the rugged XMOD (pictured above), which will represent the entry level model at £17,955. The crossover gets chunky black plastic bumpers, under body protection and a set of roof bars as standard. Other improvements include Renault’s new advanced traction control system, Grip Xtend. Operated via a rotary switch on the dashboard, the system lets the driver select three modes - Road, Loose Ground and Expert – to tackle everything the British weather can throw at it.

Road mode offers conventional traction control settings, for general use, while the loose ground setting allows the Scenic to limit power and control any loss of traction by braking each wheel independently. Want to head off the beaten track? Expert mode will take things up a level by managing the car’s braking system, leaving the driver free to tackle steep slopes and challenging terrain.

There are five engines on offer - three petrol and two diesels - including the familiar 1.5 dCi 110, which will make up the majority of the sales. The new 1.4-litre TCe 130 stop/start engine has a 15 per cent improvement on fuel consumption over the previous unit and the all of diesels will return more than 60mpg on the combined cycle.

The XMOD is available in two trims - Expression+ and Dynamique TomTom - and equipment is impressive, with 16-inch alloys, Hill Start Assist and mud/snow tyres all fitted as standard. There’s only one trim level for the five and seven seat models - Dynamique TomTom – and prices starting at £19,155 and £20,355 respectively.
