New Cars 2026

Aion UT

Type: electric hatchback | On sale: 2026 | Starting price: less than £30,000 (est)

The Aion UT electric hatchback is set to be the second car from Chinese manufacturer Aion to launch in the UK, the first being the V (below). The UT is a product of the Chinese carmaker GAC Aion, but has been styled in Italy and, while UK specs haven't been finalised, could offer an electric range north of 300 miles. Chinese market cars feature a 60kWh battery and a 267-mile range. Its size makes it a rival to cars like the Volkswagen ID.3, which the Aion UT is likely to undercut on price.

Aion V

Type: electric SUV | On sale: 2026 | Starting price: circa £30,000 (est)

2026 AION V

This Aion V will be Aion's first car on UK streets, with deliveries due in the spring of 2026. UK specification hasn't yet been confirmed, but based on other markets we're expecting a 226PS electric motor with a large 90kWh battery that should give a range of around 325 miles. The Aion V will be a rival to cars like the Skoda Enyaq and the Tesla Model Y, but likely at a considerably lower price.

Alpine A390

Type: electric SUV | On sale: 2026 | Starting price: circa £65,000 (est)

Possibly available to pre-order as soon as you read this, the Alpine A390 is a sporty electric SUV that promises family practicality and serious driver enjoyment. With two versions, both of which will hit 62mph in less than five seconds along with a range of more than 320 miles from an 89kWh battery, it could fulfil drivers' sports car dream. Taking inspiration from Alpine's A110 coupe it should also be eminently practical for everyday life. It will aim to swipe customers away from cars like the Porsche Macan Electric, the Polestar 4, and the Maserati Grecale Folgore.

Bentley Luxury Urban SUV

Type: luxury electric SUV | On sale: late 2026 | Starting price: TBC

Don't worry, that's not its actual name – Bentley has yet to give its new electric SUV a proper moniker, but we should find out much more when it's revealed in 2026 ahead of 2027 deliveries. What we do know is that it is less than five metres long and, Bentley says, give owners the full craftsmanship and driving experience that they'll expect from one of Britain's most luxurious marques. Fast charging is promised – zero to 100 miles in less than seven minutes – but there's no news yet on battery size or range. Stay tuned.

BYD Atto 2

Type: small electric/hybrid SUV | On sale: now | Starting price: £30,850

You can already buy the electric versions of the new BYD Atto 2, but 2026 will see the arrival of petrol-electric plug-in hybrid models as BYD continues its UK growth. The Chinese brand has established itself quickly with a range of predominantly electric cars, but the addition of a PHEV to the range will add an extra dimension to the company that offers value-for-money prices, but still with lots of standard equipment. The BYD Atto 2 hybrid doesn't really have many direct PHEV rivals, but customers of the likes of the Ford Puma and Toyota Yaris Cross could well be tempted.

Chery Tiggo 9 CSH

Type: large plug-in hybrid SUV | On sale: now | Starting price: £43,105

With the first deliveries due right at the end of 2025, Chery is hoping the Tiggo 9 CSH will further boost the impact that the new-to-the-UK Chinese brand has had since it launched. Its new flagship seven-seat SUV looks very impressive on paper, with loads of space, loads of features, loads of power at 428PS and a massive 91-mile electric-only range from its plug-in hybrid powertrain. All for less than £45,000. Could it be a viable alternative to cars like the Kia Sorento, the Skoda Kodiaq and the Volkswagen Tayron?

Cupra Raval

Type: small electric hatchback | On sale: 2026 | Starting price: £25,000 (est)

Formerly known as the Urban Rebel, the Cupra Raval is a forthcoming electric city car, measuring just over 4m in length. Sitting below the Cupra Born as the most affordable model in the Cupra line-up, the Raval boasts up to 226PS from its front-mounted electric motor, giving it zippy acceleration and a range that could near 280 miles on a full charge. It should give customers a sportier option than rivals like the Skoda Epiq and the Volkswagen ID.Polo, which which it shares the same platform.

Denza B5

Type: plug-in hybrid SUV | On sale: 2026 | Starting price: £TBC

Denza is the premium arm of BYD - pitched at the likes of BMW and Mercedes - and the Denza B5 will be one of its first cars on UK shores. It's a premium but rugged SUV, in the vein of the Land Rover Defender, and powered by a plug-in hybrid engine with a whopping 686PS, capable of managing up to 62 miles on electric power only. Big power, off-road capability and lots of toys as standard should make the public sit up and take notice when it arrives towards the end of 2026.

Honda Prelude

Type: hybrid coupe | On sale: now | Starting price: £40,995

Honda has revived the Prelude name after 25 years with this, a hybrid coupe that pinches various mechanical bits from the Honda Civic Type R. It has a torquey 203PS hybrid system and a chassis set up for sharp handling. We think it all works very well as you can read in our review. Orders opened in November 2025 with prices starting at £40,995, which seems like very good value and puts it up against the entry-level BMW 2 Series Coupe

Honda Super-N

Type: electric city car | On sale: 2026 | Starting price: under £30,000 (est)

The funky Honda Super-N electric city car was revealed at the Japan Mobility Show in 2025 and Honda confirmed that it is coming to the UK in 2026. The Super-N is a kei car – a type of compact car very common in Japan – and has a chunky, sporty look. No tech specs have yet been revealed to this spiritual successor to the Honda e, but we know it's electric and will probably cost less than £30,000 in order to compete with the likes of the Hyundai Inster and the Renault 5.

Hyundai Ioniq 6 N

Type: electric sports saloon | On sale: 2026 | Starting price: circa £65,000 (est)

After the success and acclaim levelled at the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, it's no surprise that the Korean manufacturer has given the same performance treatment to the Hyundai Ioniq 6. The resulting Hyundai Ioniq 6 N will be another all-electric performance car with 650PS from dual motors and a 0-62mph time of just 3.2 seconds. All that and a battery range pushing 300 miles. The exact price hasn't been finalised, but it will likely be around the £70,000 mark.

Jaguar GT EV

Type: luxury EV | On sale: 2026 | Starting price: £100,000

You can’t have missed the new Jaguar GT concept. It’s created umpteen headlines – and put the Jaguar brand back on the map after years of being in the doldrums. So what is it? Well, the concept is an extreme, angular, low-slung two-door coupe that bears a welcome reference to a Rolls-Royce Spectre. The production car will be a four-door GT, with a design and interior that won’t be too far removed from this concept. It will be fully electric, have a long range and rapid charging ability, while prices will start from north of £100,000 as Jaguar repositions itself as a luxury EV brand.

Jeep Wagoneer S

Type: electric SUV | On sale: 2026 | Starting price: £75,000

The new Jeep Wagoneer S is the American 4x4 brand’s first global EV. It is a modern electric alternative to a Jeep Grand Cherokee that the firm hopes will take on rivals such as the BMW iX and Mercedes-Benz EQE. Prices are likely to start from £75,000 and a huge 100kWh battery will give a range of more than 300 miles. It is said to have a high-end interior, with plenty of luxury features to go up against its premium rivals. There will be an abundance of passenger space and an 866-litre boot.

Kia EV4

Type: electric hatch and saloon | On sale: now | Starting price: £34,695

The new Kia EV4 is another distinctive-looking modern electric car from the ever-popular firm. Effectively the hatchback alternative to the award-winning Kia EV3, it is a little longer overall than its sister car and rivals models such as the Renault Megane E-Tech. There's also an equally-distinctive Fastback saloon version if you want something a little different. It's offered with a choice of two batteries, the largest of which has a range of more than 390 miles. Prices start from £34,695.

Kia EV5

Type: electric SUV | On sale: now | Starting price: £39,295

Kia continues its expansion of its electric vehicle range with the Kia EV5, a sister car to the combustion-engined Kia Sportage and a rival for the likes of the Ford Explorer and Skoda Enyaq. Front-wheel-drive versions are already available to order and all-wheel-drive models will follow in 2026. Expect plenty of standard features across at least three trim levels, good practicality and, of course, Kia's impressive seven-year warranty.

Kia PV5

Type: electric MPV | On sale: now | Starting price: £32,995

After the VW ID.Buzz reawakened the large van-based people carrier market for the electric age, Kia has decided to get involved too. The Kia PV5 Passenger is, as the name suggests, a version of its cargo van, but with extra seats in for people-hauling. With a starting price less than £33,000, it dramatically undercuts the funky VW while it gets a 159-mile range and tons of space inside. Kia says with five seats in place, you'll have a 1330-litre boot, which is huge. Six and seven-seat versions will follow in 2026.

Maxus MIFA 7

Type: electric MPV | On sale: now | Starting price: £39,995

The new Maxus MIFA 7 is a large electric family MPV. Sitting below the extra-large Maxus MIFA 9, it measures around 4.9 metres long and has seating for seven. Those in the back enjoy the easy-access flexibility of sliding rear doors. Consider it a more affordable alternative to a Volkswagen ID.Buzz, with prices starting from £39,995. It is also an EV alternative to the Lexus LM but, again, is almost half the price. There are two battery choices, 77kWh or 90kWh, with the larger offering a range of 298 miles. The interior is high-tech and includes a panoramic glass roof. The 2-2-3 seating layout is also functional.

Mazda 6e

Type: electric hatchback | On sale: 2026 | Starting price: £40,000 (est)

Mazda's newest electric car has been developed with Chinese manufacturer Changan and is a reimagining of the faithful Mazda 6. Imaginitively named the Mazda 6e, it's a saloon-like hatchback known in China as the EZ-6, but reworked for European roads. It looks set to be an alternative to cars like the Tesla Model 3, the BMW i4 and the Hyundai Ioniq 6, and boasts a range of up to 343 miles from a single battery charge.

Mercedes-Benz GLC EQ

Type: electric SUV | On sale: now | Starting price: £60,350

Like Bob Dylan before it, the Mercedes GLC has gone electric. This is the Mercedes GLC with EQ Technology, to give it its full name. And it looks like being a strong rival to SUVs like the BMW iX3 and Audi Q6 e-tron when it arrives in the spring. The order books are already open and customers can look forward to a battery range north of 400 miles, all-wheel drive and up to 489PS of power, as well as a top-quality interior and state-of-the-art technology.

Nissan Leaf

Type: electric SUV | On sale: 2026 | Starting price: £33,000 (est)

A pioneer of the mass-market electric car, the Nissan Leaf name badge is being applied to an all-new model next year. No longer a hatchback, the new Nissan Leaf is an SUV to take on cars like the Kia EV3 and the Skoda Elroq. Equipped with a choice of two batteries and fast charging at up to 150kW, it promises up to 375 miles on a full charge. Can one of the original EVs reclaim its place at the top of the electric tree? We'll find out when the first deliveries land in the spring.

Nissan Micra

Type: electric hatchback | On sale: now | Starting price: £21,495

Another new electric car to tap into the past is the latest Nissan Micra. Sharing components with the latest Renault 5, the new Nissan Micra is styled after the 2002 Micra K1 and is on sale now with the first deliveries expected at the start of 2026. It's a small electric hatchback with a choice of two battery sizes and a range of up to 253 miles. It is very similar to the Renault in a lot of ways, but then the new R5 is rather good, so that might not be a disadvantage for the Nissan...

Omoda 4

Type: electric/combustion SUV | On sale: 2026 | Starting price: £20,000 (est)

Formerly known as the Omoda 3, the Omoda 4 is a new small SUV from the recently launched (in the UK) Chinese company and takes aim at the likes of the Ford Puma and the Toyota C-HR. A seven-year warranty, futuristic styling and a choice of both combustion and full-electric power should turn some heads, but we'll have to wait until more information is revealed to know whether it will be a contender in a very competitive market.

Polestar 5

Type: electric fastback GT | On sale: 2026 | Starting price: £89,500

The latest luxury car from Polestar, the upmarket offshoot of Volvo, is the Polestar 5, a flagship electric sports-car-cum-GT that takes aim at the Porsche Taycan, the Audi e-tron GT et al. It has all-new electric running gear that, depending on which model you go for, delivers up to 883PS and a range of up to 416 miles. Performance should be stupendous, but Polestar says it will be comfortable too. It could be all things to all people... for a price.

Range Rover Electric

Type: electric luxury SUV | On sale: 2026 | Starting price: £130,000 (estimated)

The new Range Rover Electric is the first-ever electric version of the world-famous luxury SUV. It’s open for pre-orders now and is expected to be fully released in 2026. It won’t be cheap, with a starting price upwards of £130,000 likely, but it will be extremely luxurious, with brilliant refinement and performance to match a Range Rover V8. Visually, it will look almost identical to other new Range Rovers, which is no bad thing and the interior will be similarly palatial. An indulgent way to go green.

Renault 4

Type: electric hatchback | On sale: now | Starting price: £25,695

The new Renault 4 follows up another smash-hit retro recreation, the Renault 5. Following in the footsteps of the classic Renault 4, it is a practical five-door that will be an alternative to more traditional small electric SUVs such as the new MINI Aceman. Cute touches include an opening canvas electric roof and, inside, a baguette holder. The comprehensive Google-based infotainment system is a real highlight too. It will have an EV range of up to 250 miles and a standard heat pump should ensure efficiency in the winter.

Renault Twingo

Type: electric city car | On sale: late 2026/early 2027 | Starting price: below £20,000

Renault has revived the Twingo name by harking back to the classic, cutesy model of the 1990s and reinventing the Renault Twindo as a five-door electric city car. The French company is targeting a sub-£20k price and its small battery should be good for around 165 miles of range and very low running costs. This should put EV ownership within reach for urban drivers and first-time buyers, and provide a rival to cars like the Dacia Spring and the BYD Dolphin Surf.

Skoda Epiq

Type: small electric SUV | On sale: mid-2026 | Starting price: around £25,000 (est)

The new Skoda Epiq is our first look at an affordable entry-level electric Skoda that may be revealed in 2025 ahead of going on sale in 2026. Affordable will hopefully mean a price from under £20k, although the Skoda Epiq will be a proper five-door with a huge 490-litre boot. A potential range of nearly 250 miles will be handy, too.

Toyota Urban Cruiser

Type: small electric SUV | On sale: early 2026 | Starting price: £35,000 (est)

The new Toyota Urban Cruiser is a small SUV that is closely related to the Suzuki e Vitara. It sits just above the existing Toyota Yaris Cross hybrid, as a pure electric alternative to take on models such as the Kia EV3 and Volvo EX30. It claims a range of up to 250 miles and there will be a dual-motor version with 4x4 for muddy-road confidence, alongside the core front-wheel drive models. Orders are due to open in late 2025 and prices are expected to start from around £35,000.

ID.EVERY1

Type: electric city car | On sale: 2027 | Starting price: £17,000 (est)

The new Volkswagen ID.EVERY1 is a very important car for the German giant. Aiming to be its most affordable new electric car of all, prices could start from just £17,000 when it arrives in 2027. VW bosses say it represents the "last piece of the puzzle on our way to the widest model selection in the volume segment." It will sit below the 2026 Volkswagen ID.Polo. Contemporary rivals are thin on the ground – only the Dacia Spring and Leapmotor T03 really compete in the sub-£20k EV sector at the moment, although the forthcoming new Renault Twingo is also going to be competition. The keen pricing will mean a smallish battery, with Volkswagen estimating a range of at least 155 miles.

Volkswagen ID.Polo

Type: electric small hatch | On sale: mid 2026 | Starting price: from £22,000 (est)

Originally called the Volkswagen ID.2 concept, Volkswagen is reverting to its traditional names for its next generation of electric cars, hence this now being called the VW ID.Polo. It's designed to be an affordable EV so expect starting prices of around £22,000. You can expect to see the production VW ID.Polo feature a choice of two batteries – a 38kWh unit for the entry-level model and a larger 56kWh pack for long-range versions. A VW ID.Polo GTI with 226PS will follow in 2027.
