Canyon launches new Citylite range

If you're looking to keep running costs down and get a bit fitter at the same time, then Canyon could have the answer.
With its new range of urban bikes it hopes these will soon be your go-to option when nipping to the shops, commuting or even taking the kids to school (with the option to add a trailer). The Citylite range is also designed to double as a leisure bike if you're looking for one bike to do it all.
The Canyon Citylite range includes both manual and e-bike models, badged Citylite:ON.

The Citylite range is not Canyon's first range of urban bikes, but the focus here is very much on simplification and making them easy to live with.
There are four models to choose from - two manual and two e-bike versions. The two manual bikes share the same core features, with the only difference the variation on the frame design - there's a step-over frame for taller riders and a more accessible step-through frame option should you prefer. Its the same story with the Citylite:ON - you get the same range of features on both bikes, all you need to do is decide on the design of frame (and colour).
The frames are made from aluminium and there are complemented by carbon forks in an effort to keep weight down. And rather than an oily chain, bikes some with a belt-drive for easy maintenance. It also means that Citylite bikes have hub gearing - the manual model coming with an 8-speed set-up and the Citylife:ON featuring a 5-speed configuration.
Both Canyon Citylite bikes are fitted with an MIK HD rack, so you have the choice of mounting various accessories, be that a child-seat, basket or side bag. The design of the bike also includes some neat features - the frame sports an integrated lock and integrated front and rear lights. On the manual bike these are dynamo powered, with the Citylite:ON powering its lights from the battery. Rather cleverly the rear light on the Citylite:ON is wired up to the rear disc brake, so when slowing down this acts as a brake light.
As for power, the Citylite:ON uses a Bosch Performance Line drive unit that has a claimed range of up to 53 miles, while there is the choice for four drive modes, controlled by the Bosch Purion 200 handlebar display. Another feature unique to the Citylite:ON is the SP Connect SPC+ E-CAP smartphone mount, which can charge your phone wireless from the e-bike battery with an optional phone charging module.
The manual version of the Citylite costs £1449, while the Citylife:ON will set you back £2799.
