Get £8000 deposit contribution towards a Honda e:Ny1

The biggest barrier for many going electric is the price or monthly payments of an EV. Recognising this, Honda is offering the new e:Ny1 electric SUV for the same monthly price as the brand's popular HR-V hybrid SUV.

For £346 per month on a Honda PCP deal, you now drive away in a e:Ny1 in Elegance trim for the same monthly outlay as a HR-V in Advance trim. That's pretty impressive when you consider that the OTR price of the e:Ny1 is some £14,300 more than the HR-V.

To help with this, Honda is not only offering a £8000 deposit contribution towards the e:Ny1, but also a low 5.9% APR on payments. Meanwhile, there's also a pretty tempting offer on the HR-V, with Honda offering a £2000 deposit contribution. The APR is a little higher than with the e:Ny1, but it's still set pretty low at 6.9%.

It means both cars will cost £346 a month on a PCP deal, and with the e:Ny1 Elegance and HR-V Advanced a similar size and sharing many of the same features, customers have the simple choice of whether to go electric or stick with hybrid for the same monthly price.

On top of this, Honda is offering the e:Ny1 with what it calls a 5-year care package. This includes a five-year service plan, five-year warranty and five-year roadside assistance.

Rebecca Adamson, Head of Automobile at Honda UK, commented: “We want to make it easier for consumers to make the transition to electric vehicles and we know that the price point of EVs is one of the main concerns people have.

We have decided to make our e:Ny1 Electric Elegance the same monthly payment as our HR-V Hybrid Advance equivalent, allowing customers to choose the powertrain that suits them best.”

Is there a better alternative than a Skoda Kamiq out there?

I have a Skoda Kamiq (an excellent motor) but am ready for a change. I don't know whether to wait for the new updated 2024 Kamiq, or to go for something completely different. If I was to change, can you recommend a smallish SUV as good as the Kamiq?
Take a look at the Toyota Yaris Cross. It's one of our favourite small SUVs at the moment - it's comfortable and easy to drive, while its hybrid system means it's be cheap to run. We'd recommend the Honda HR-V and Ford Puma, too.
