Either the driver thought that because it's a 4 x 4 they could just drive as normal on icy roads or never thought to engage 4wd (and brain).

Looks to me like he/she has deliberately and quite skilfully parked it there in front of their gate to deter travellers from entering the field and setting up residence.

Doesn't look to have sustained any damage, I thought these were quite tough old things.

Fool probably saved a few shekels by fiitting regular summer tyres. I see plenty of 4x4 owners who have done just that. IMO they are penny wise, pound foolish.

On my 4x4 I stick with the OEM All season tyres (The ones I have do have a Alpine Mountain / Snowflake symbol on they tyre wall and are Mud n Snow rated).

I can personally vouch for the enhanced grip. ...and yes they DO decrease your stopping distance on the slippy stuff. Fact. Much more important is they may well stop you ending up in a ditch. Of course you need to drive with due care according to the conditions but when Mr Hatchback is as stuck as a very stuck thing...you won't be.

Mr Hatchback is as stuck as a very stuck thing...you won't be.

Only on very quiet roads. Otherwise you're just as stuck as sticky the stick insect who has just got stuck on a sticky bun.
