when releasing clutch in first gear, at point of release if done too quickly, i get severe engine vibration below clutch pedal. if going up a steep hill, again in first, at point of release it will shudder and almost freewheel ( no torque / no power ) at release point.

aside from this, 2nd gear ok unless real strain such as going up steep hill, then same probs.

no problems in 3rd or 4th and if I nurse 1st and 2nd, theyre ok.

have read several posts that suggest problem could be either clutch or engine mounts or could be something else.

90 k on clock and hoping to get more out of it. Mechanic prepared to change clutch but he is not convinced it will solve problem.

Any ideas ?
