Merc Vito Traveliner 2002 - Vito 2002 110CDI idle problem - help please - mikeLmedic

I have just bought a 2002 Vito Traveliner with a high milage 110 CDI engine.

The engine starts fine and seems to run fine overall and the van goes well however when starting from cold the engine won't settle on idle and the rpm bounces up and down a little?

Any ideas?

New to the Vito so any advice welcome!
