OK, as it's 13-odd years old there's a lot of things it could be. Is the oil level, coolant level etc all OK? Did you have to jump-start it or did it fire up OK from its own battery?
Does it start up easily enough or does it take a lot of churning before it fires?
It could be as simple as an electrical connection, or an engine / battery earth. Have a look round the engine bay to find the engine earth and battery earth connections. Spray where they connect to the car's body with WD40.
Check the battery terminals are tight and not covered in corrosion.
Check the electrical connectors at the MAF sensor, the coil or coil packs, from the exhaust lambda sensor (if it's accessible) and so on. Unplug these and re-plug them a couple of times to 'wipe' the connector but do NOT use WD40 on these connectors.
Check the HT leads to the spark plugs (if it has them, it may have coil packs) are not cracked.
If all of that checks out OK and it is still misfiring, then it may need to go to a garage for a proper inspection.
