Nissan Almera - Nissan Almera N15 ABS fault - Solenoid Valve Relay - Hugo {P}

Hi

Me again!

Yes, after 9 years we still have the Nissan Almera!!!

Bad news is I'm getting this fault, using the paperclip method as many of you have mentioned here.

It's coming up as fault 63, which is Soloid Valve Relay.

I've changed the relays, and also changed a sensor that was open circuit.

Can someone please suggest where to look next, if the two relays don't seem to be causing the problem?

Just an update on this.

I read up about a way of locating ABS faults on the internet and found that I had 2 such faults. One was the relay as indicated and the other was the ABS sensor.

I replaced the sensor and that cleared that fault but the Solenoid Valve Relay fault persisted.

After much messing around I found that there was no switched voltage on the Solenoid Valve Relay. The relay was being switched and working but there was no current getting to the solenoid valve. The fault was found to be a fusible link. This was proven using a simple bodge involving a fuse and a couple of spade connectors connected to the fusible link area. I then rescued a couple of fusible links from some Nissan vans of the same era in a scrap yard.

The problem was fixed, the ABS works (oh boy does it work) and the car now has a fresh MOT!
