Peugeot 306 - 306 - 2000 HDi 90 - No power up hills - DarrylJ88

Hi there!

Recently, I've noticed my 306 has no power going up hills. If it's flat and if im in 4th, it also struggles to go above 40. (it does, but alot slower than it should).

The turbo no longer hisses either when you accelerate.

Any ideas what this could me? A friend said the MAF could be the reason.

I'm a complete novice when it comes to cars!

Thanks,

Darryl

Its going into Limp Home Mode first place to look is the EGR valve either clean it or replace it.

...or overboost. [N75 valve]

I've noticed there is a hiss with the Turbo!

I'm going to try reset the ECU, because I've noticed it being limp before, and coming out of it by itself - if this is possible?

Still seems to struggle to go above 60 though!

Hissing when the turbo comes in probably means the output pipe has become detached or split, could also be an intercooler pipe or the intercooler itself.

A dead MAF will cause some power loss but not to the extent you have described i wouldn't have thought. An easy way to test the MAF is to unplug it (the MAF is located on the air intake just after the air box) and see how if it has fixed the problem.
