Is anyone selling a non-turbo diesel?
We fancy a Picasso but the PSA HDi is a turbo and people are experiencing problems with them already.
Don't understand why anyone buys a petrol car.

I think the VW Polo and SKODA Fabia have atmo (non-turbo) models that are quite well regardded. Bigger cars like the Picasso just won't have sufficient performance without a turbo. If you're looking for an older car I can recommend the Citroen ZX 1.9D one of which served me well for 3 years. What kind of problems have you heard of as I'm thinking of a Picasso HDi too?

It is something to do with pipes coming lose leading to loss of power.
Have a look at www.citroenpicasso.org.uk

I've got a Skoda Octavia SDi non-turbo diesel estate, it drives much better than the bare figures would suggest (The magazines all say 19.6sec to 62mph, top speed of 101mph). The torque from low down in the rev range is terrific, I have no problem at all keeping up with other traffic either around town or cruising on motorways at 70mph+.
They included one as a possible replacement car on Tuesday's Wrong Car, Right Car. The guy who was looking for a new car was full of praise for the Skoda's space, the way it drives, and how comfortable and affordable it is. The only reason he turned it down was because his wife couldn't sit on a deckchair in the boot like she could in a VW camper van. :-l
I've done 135,000 miles in my Skoda now, it's still had nothing wrong with the engine or any part of the drivetrain, and it still doesn't burn oil between 10,000 mile services. I've heard several tales of woe relating to the Peugeot 406 HDi engine dying at around 100,000 miles, I would assume this is the same unit as in the Picasso?

Does that mean every else except the drivetrain has fallen apart?!
What sort of MPG do you get from it?

I wouldn't say we are having problems with the Picasso, it is a niggle that should be fixed by wednesday. I borrowed dads Picasso for the day, and found my commute far better, the car would run uphill in 3rd, no throttle at 16mph keeping up with the traffic, and the hydraulic clutch was a delight.
