Ford Mondeo - Oil cap will not come off - Homster

Hi, I have a Ford Mondeo estate and I am trying to put some more oil into it but cannot get the oil cap off. It clicks when I turn it but does not come off, when I try and turn it the other way it does not move at all. I have tried pushing down on it and turning but it just clicks. Any ideas? Could I put oil down the dip stick channel in the short term?

You have not explained which way you are trying to turn the cap! Normally it is turn clockwise for "on" and anticlockwise for "off". Some caps click to indicate when they are "on" properly, therefore I reckon you need to turn it the opposite way for "off". See the Renault post of 4/11in Tech for a similar tale.

You should turn the cap anticlockwise in order to remove it. Turning clockwise tighens it and it will then "Click" indicating that it's now tight enough.

Try to unscrew the cap with the engine hot if you can't move it when cold. Might help to loosen it.
