2001 Rover 25 IE TD - Turbo Diesel Boost delay?? - Mr Wolf

I have a 2001 Rover 25, the turbo doen`t kick in until 3000rpm, when it should kick in at 1500 rpm. Have checked all the vacuum pipes and found no vacuum leaks, what could be causing this??

Had the same engine ( L series I think ) in a Rover 45 many years ago. Think there is a boost actuator on the injection pump that senses the inlet pressure through a small diameter sense pipe. Could be that the diaphram in the actuator has failed or sense pipe has a leak or disconnected. Might also be a split in the air pressure pipe from the turbo.

Thanks for your reply. I have checked all your ideas, and all is well. The Turbo still doesn`t kick in until 3000 rpm. I`m at a loss and am about to scrap the car. Seems a shame to waste an otherwise good low mileage car.
