I've just come across this new buying and selling website where you can advertise any car for just ONE pound per week. I put my car on it, loaded up lots of photos and paid my pound. Got someone coming this weekend to see it :-)

Everyone who is buying or selling should try this website, rather than paying ridiculous prices elsewhere !!

Well done Carquid, I hope I sell it this weekend !

You're new to us, Monzaman, and I can't help suspecting that you may be advertising. We don't allow free adverts, but as this could be a useful website for forum members, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt this time.

Has anyone used Carquid? Any comments?

I have had a browse of this site earlier and it looks ok but there are a few things that it needs in order to compete with other well known sites.

The search facility is a bit wrong , put you postcode in to search for listings in a certain price bracket and distance and it always comes up the same , everything is 18 miles away so that must be some crow, as i know some of the traders address on there are 40 to 50 miles from the postcode i put in.

Pictures are small but i guess if you are interested in something particular then you will make the effort to go and look anyway.

Breakdown of the cars specification is threadbare at best

I guess you get what you pay for

New business that is only 18 months old so no accounts filed. 5 shareholders with £1 million of share capital suggests ambitious plans.

Hi Mr Avant, no, im not advertising, just thought that Carquid was great value for money as it was really expensive to advertise my car elsewhere. I'll let you know if I sell it !!

Like any other means of advertising. Ask yourself if I was trying to buy a car would a site like 'www.zyzco123 etc etc .co.za' or equivalent be the first place I looked? Not me.

Autotrader and or Fleabay for me.

£1 a week to advertise on a site no one has heard of. Looks like the bargain of the century.

Best of luck.

It's cheaper still on gum tree which is free .The key is that potential buyers have to be aware of a site and drawn to it .

I've tried gum tree ,it's a waste of time if not money .I usually have 6 cars for sale I didn't receive any enquiries from gum tree .

The most effective site is autotrader which is also the most expensive £42 for three weeks for trade adds .A long way behind is e bay ,much less effective ,but about half the price .

Several used car traders I've spoken to recently have stopped using autotrader ,in favour of motors uk and e bay ,just because of the cost .The minimum charge for a dealer website with a maximum of 7 cars is £500 a month ,for 30 cars its £1500 a month .

Is it a surprise that so many used car dealers are closing ?

I heard an advert on the radio about carquid.com and I checked out the site. I was pretty impressed. They seem to be growing rapidly and have loads of cars for sale. I hope it works for them, as I'm a car trader and I am sick to death of paying the ridiculous advertising costs that some websites charge. Good luck to them.

I sort of know the fellas that started carquid, and yes they do have Very big plans! The main shareholder has been a motor trader for over 20 years and started carquid because of the high price of advertising cars on autotrader, eBay ect ect. And I'm not advertising for them, but it's about time someone tried to stand up to the big boys who have a monopoly on this. They are all ready making ripples in the market, If they can provide the same or similar service as A.T or eBay, for a quid then it goes to show how much were being ripped off by the big boys. Go carquid!!!!!

Does anyone on here know a good place to get a new Hyundai i20 at a good price ?

Any - Carquid.com - Auristocrat

Hyundaicare cuerrently offering £1200 off i20 5 doors and £1500 off i20 3 doors, plus contributions towards finance deposits. The Active trim level seems to offer the highest finance contribution (£750). Doubt you'll do much better.
