About what aspect of them exactly? Don't forget this forum is not equipped with an ESP feature.

One word of advice.

Don't.

I know of 3 people, varying ages, who have been on the awareness course and all found it beneficial.

A friend of mine went on one and ended up bedding the girl sat next to him
after the course in a local hotel.
He thought the course was VERY worth while.

So you could say the course was very INTEResting.

The speed awareness course I went on this year was 95% guys. On the way out the next group were waiting with their coffees, nearly all were stunning beauties. I want a refund!

I nearly fell out of my chair laughing!

...the benefit being that you avoid 3 points.

I think this was just good luck for the happy couple - the course I attended was interesting and stimulating but not that exciting.

It enable me to avoid 3 points and the insurance cost hike that follows.

I was offered a speed awareness course after driving within a 40 limit that was actually 30 - lack of attention to frequent changes in limits.

I was surprised how few attendees knew the speed limits applying to vehicles other than cars, eg HGVs or anything towing a trailer - no wonder many people get frustrated being "stuck" behind them when in reality they're just sticking to their, much lower, speed limit.

Use a car with a speed limiter.

unthrottled, even more beneficial than avoiding 3 points.

What could be more beneficial than that? Don't try and tell me that being admonished by a retired police officer on-a-very-nice-little-retirement-sideline and being stuffed with facts about road casualties and stopping distances at various speeds is going to have any long term impact on your driving style. Shock tactics have considerable short term impact but little long term effect.

Presumably, everyone must have learned about stopping distances and speed limits for their driving test. If they have since forgotten, it is only because they weren't interested!

Pretty much every account I've heard of speed/driver awareness courses the participants come away having learned something. Maybe they knew it before if they'd thought and maybe they forgot it later but the course itself was a learninig experience.

I agree too - I came away from the course thinking regular 'refresher' training should be a legal requirement, it happens in many professions and driving is the control of potenially dangerous machinery.

Still, the course also enabled me to save on insurance costs so there was an economic benefit in taking part too. (and a bit of sport whilst some of the 'less intelligent' comments were being made)
