pls can u stop txtg & use propr English words - I could bearly understand any of your post.

If you're asking "are fuEl computers accurate in cars" - not really, as the quality of the sensors and shape of the fuel tank (normally odd to fit it in around the car) mean that it's only approximate.

PS. Handy hint - use sentences.

Are fuel computers accurate? Yes and no. On the basis that they take fuel usage data from the engine's fuel computer and calculate that against the distance travelled mesured by the odometer. The result is going to be as accurate as the quantity readout from the ecu and the distance readout from the odometer.

I did a full to full fuel consumption calculation on my 07 2.2 diesel civic and reworked the calculation to take into account the 6% overread on the speedo. Then compared that figure with the computer reading-found that the computer reading was 3.5% optimistic over the true figure.

My Nissan's anything from 10-20% accurate.

I'm a sad ole git who keeps a record of of how much it takes to fill my tank and the mileage. An old boy taught me umpty years ago that no fault he'd ever come across would improve the fuel consumption. It's stood me in good stead. If I find the average MPG increasing, I look for a problem!
