Hyundai I30 Premium. - Hyundai I30 1.6 & 2.0ltr Question. - 420 Turbo Diesel

HI,

I am looking at buying a secondhand Hyundai I30 Diesel,not sure whether to go for the 1.6 or 2.0.Can someone tell if they both use timing chains as opposed to Cambelts please?

The 1.6 CRDi uses a chain timing belt, the 2.0 CRDi uses a toothed timing belt. Test drive them both and see what you reckon. If a high mileage car then consider changing the belt if it hasn't already been changed.

Own a Ceed which is basically the same car with a different (slightly larger) body and a longer warranty. Not driven a 2.0 CRDi but we own a 1.6 CRDi and its a cracker. We were told the 2.0 was discontinued since it was unpopular as it was uneconomical and unrefined compared to the 1.6 with little extra performance. We were also told that the 2.0 they used was on older design whereas the 1.6 is bang up to date.
