avensis - key - J&P

I am taking my second hand avensis for a service , when i got the car , the salesman told me i had to take a certain car key with me , something toi do with imformation on it, but when i booked the car in and mentioned this , they had no idea what i was talking about , can someone please help me on this before i take it in for service.
