Citroen ZX Volcane - Paint - oyleak

My 1993 ZX Volcane is still going like a train. The only problem is that the paintwork on horizontal surfaces is shot to blazes. It's a metallic green (ERTbR) with colour + lacquer layers. The lacquer has peeled badly but the colour is good with only one rust spot.

I would love to fix it myself as I had excellent results with cellulose paints years ago with very basic (non HVLP) spraying kit.

Sadly, cellulose is no longer available. I'm told 2 pack isn't for me as it's poisonous, more difficult to work with than cellulose and needs baking as well as respiratory gear.

Would acrylic paint be more suitable for DIYers as I'm told it's reasonably tolerant of cheap spraying kit and doesn't need baking?

Also, can you spray over old colour without fear of a reaction or do you have to do the "inconspicuous area test". And I've no idea whether colour matching would be an issue..

Any pointers, suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Go to yuour local DIY car stroke .. you can buy 0.5litre aersols of clear lacquer.

I would not spend more than £20 as that's more than the value of the car :-)
