Drivers Electric Seat Stuck! - crispinbrocks_69

Hi,

I have an Omega Elite (3.0) 1997 R Reg and earlier today I moved the
seat to the far back position (I was waiting for someone and wanted
to read whilst waiting) and now it wont go forward so I am only just
able to reach the peddles.

The seat has some movement, so the motors are working ok. I have
checked the runners and I can't find anything stopping them.

Anyone got any ideas?

Does the seat move forward at all ?

If it does, can you hear the motor(s) working ?

When the seat stops moving, are the motors still working ?

I suspect you´ve got something catching. Seatbelt ? Something between the seat and the centre console ?

It only takes a tiny stone (or similar) to jam the mechanism. Check again, very thoroughly. Use a powerfull vacuum cleaner on the tracks too - you might not be able to see the problem.

Thanks to all who replied to this problem.

I called the RAC this morning who came out and found a few pennies stuck on the tracks. One of them was well mashed up and this was causing the problem.

Well done RAC!

Crispin - I would love to know what the RAC man said while he was chasing round the country trying to sort out flat batteries, and you called him to a few coins stuck in your seat runners!

Andrew,

I was very embarresed to say the least, but offered Tea and Coffee to make up for it. He laughed and said it was the first time he had seen it happen.

I pay for the option of being able to call the RAC for problems with my car, so I don't have a problem with it.
