Dealer with no stock? - Trilly
Passing a Mercedes Benz dealership every to and from work I noticed this morning instead of the normal 20 + cars it normally has I could only count 1 c class and as I was passing and a few A class tucked away at the back of the forecourt.

Is it normal practice at this time of year to run stock down or something peculiar with this dealer who are by the way Woking Motors on the A3?

Whilst I am at it, a few weeks ago popped down to Blackbushe auction as had some time to kill and many years since been to car auction. What confused me was that Lancaster who I think are a Audi dealer were selling a A4 All road new model late plate with a rear flat mind you. Why would a Audi main dealer do this, car dodgy or some other reason I cannot fathom?

Is the forecourt low lying? Our local Renault dealer has cleared his forecourt until the flood risk passes...

I noticed last Christmas that quite a few dealers cleared their forecourts over the holiday period, presumably into secure storage against theft and vandalism.

This could be the case here and they just haven't got it all back yet.

One of our local dealers was the same, prior to liquidation!

Stored carefully in the wide opn spaces of former airfields, where they will be used, at random, for the amusement of the parkers and shunters temporarily employed there, until they are caught at it. :)

I had to collect a Mercedes V-class from one of those airfields once. I went up there with a 7.5t transporter truck, as it had a "gearbox problem". When I got there it was halfway along a row of V-classes nose-to-tail with a few inches between each, and the "gearbox problem" was that it was stuck in Park.
The solenoid that releases the gear lever when the brake pedal is depressed had failed, and stripping the gear selector out is not a job easily done on an airfield, hence the removal by transporter!
Cue 6 or 7 blokes pushing forwards then backwards while I hang off the gear lever with enough force to convince it it's in Reverse and not Park, and therefore free to roll with the ignition on but engine not running. One 11-point turn later (have you ever tried that in a V280 without the PAS working??) and we got it on the truck...

That reminds me of when I went to help my brother move his non-running car from one house to another. I arrived with him and a borrowed trailer (a big flatbed, no winch) to find that the keys were 150 miles away and the steering lock was on. Our first 23-point turn, by bumping one end or the other around, got it out onto the road. The we had to line up the car to the trailer very carefully (the car would only go in a circle) and take a big breath before pushing with a big run-up to get it on the trailer. Fortunately we had it lined up properly...

Lancaster are a big group with a number of dealerships of different marques.

They could be flogging that Audi at auction because they don't want to sell it themselves. If main dealers don't want to sell a car themselves they'll trade it on. This could be because it doesn't have full history, is an import, has high miles, or something else not 100% about it.
