The Queen's Diamond Jubilee Bus Lane Protest - 1litregolfeater
The Queen's Diamond Jubilee Council Run Money-Making Mess

This bank holiday I would urge everybody to stay out of bus lanes.

I'm sure the queen would approve of my mission to make local democracy more accountable to people and less fee-paying to the wasters that sit in town halls.

Bus lanes are painted on the road to get fines, in a Big-brother way to intimidate you.

The council has a van nearby hitting £30 or £60 every time, so they can pay themselves massive incomes.

Stay out and Honk!!!

I have never ever driven in London but my understanding is that bus lanes are provided to facilitate the movement of buses and give them a degree of priority. The lanes are clearly marked (?), it is possible to stay out of them so what is the problem?

I think it was a veiled attempt to say stay out of rush-hour bus lanes, even though it's a holiday. During the last Christmas and New Years Day, many people were sent fines for using rush-hour bus lanes even though there was no rush hour. The same with streetside parking restrictions.

I wouldn't mind Bus Lanes if they actually did anything to improve the Bus Service, which they dont.

So the question is ....

'Do workday bus lane restrictions apply on weekday Bank Holidays?'

I consider they should not but will not take a chance ....

Who knows the answer?
