Can you hear the rear wiper motor working?

If so, but the actual arm is not moving, then it may be that the clamp lug on the wiper arm has sheared.

There is a splined shaft that comes out of the motor that rotates. The wiper arm (made of plastic) has a soft alloy lug moulded into it that slides on the splined shaft. On my Scenic, the plastic around the lug broke. Leaving the motor rotating the splined shaft, but the arm doesn't move.
