French motoring - Peter

I see in the motoring media that on French roads we must now carry breathalisers. Where might we buy them from?

Has anything else been introduced recently to trap the unwary?

You can get them on the ferries. Once in France, garages, hypermarkets etc. As usual, there's a premium for the ones on the ferry - DFDS on the Dover-Dunkirk run were charging £5.99 for a pack of 2, but AFAIK you'd normally reckon on paying between 1 and 2 euros in France. Recommendation is to buy two so that you always have a spare. But although the law comes in on 1st July, you won't get fined for not having them until the end of the year (November-ish). The fine is peanuts, around 10 euros.

You can buy from a myriad of outlets and there are many suppliers of the recommended product on Ebay at around 5ukp thats were I bought mine.

One point the fine for not having them maybe only 10€ but there are other costs like being arrested or taken to the nearest police station and stuck on their machine better to have another piece of junk in the glovebox.
