It just proves the First and Only Law of Economics (i.e. all I know about economics) - the right price is what some other poor sap will pay.

Yeh earlier tonight I was looking at where old motorbikes were going for ridiculous amounts.

It's people chasing a dream or a memory, reliving their youth or pretending for a moment to be kids again.

Reborn! Like Butterflies!

Good luck to them, silly old sods, more money than sense.

For 40K i would have expecetde the car to have been stored in mothballs in a controlled environment and as such be as it rolled of the production line.

These actiuons can only be those of a dangerous escapee from a lunatic asylum !

Worth pointing out though that this is, supposedly, the oldest surviving Mini in the world. That does carry quite some kudos amongst hardcore enthusiasts/collectors, even if it seems a ridiculous price to pay to most. Bear in mind that a Ferrari 250 GTO or whatever it was will sell for several million nowadays, and 40k seems a snip!

Also the 8th off the production line, which adds extra perceived value to the right collector.

However, by the time it's fully restored, it'll be like Grandad's spade, with a completely new handle and blade ...
